I’m thinking of making some changes to the content of the website. If I do make any, they wouldn’t be seen for some time. I’d like to finish the currnet storyline before implementing any changes and the current story should take about 60 pages. Give or take. That puts us right about in the middle of the story for those of you keeping score. By the end of this story identities will be revealed, a “mission” of sorts will be layed out for some characters, while others will fall by the wayside. New characters will be introduced in the second story, formating changes and style changes will occur at that time. Any suggestions you might have would be welcome. Hmmm… that’s not entirely true. Comments along the lines of “Stop, dear god, please stop. Your story is making my eyes bleed!” will be ignored. I currently have three stories loosely planned out. This first one introduces us to The Multiverse, the god of fiction, some main characters, and the general framework for any other stories I tell. The second story should be more brief and will be an origin story of sorts. The third story will plop some of the characters into a new reality. After that, well I’m not sure, but it will take awhile to get to that point.
It’s not often you get to see someone planning to use a wheel as a weapon. There’s probably a reason for that. Like the fact that car wheels are to heavy for the average person to lift. Looks like our bald friend is having no difficulty holding it, so we’ll have to wait and see how he uses it.
Mike’s wife is tracking him down! And when she finds out he lost Lucas in another dimension, he’ll be sleeping on the sofa for a week. Or she’ll be shocked at the idea that there are other dimensions. One or the other I suppose.
In other news, I’m making progress on a print version. Expect news sometime in June. I’m making headway on a planned podcast. I’m intending it to be fairly short, weekly and focusing on an update of the webcomic, reviews of other webcomics, and since this is a webcomic about a comic fan, I will be doing something about print comics as well. This part is what’s holding me up, I’m not sure what I have to say that isn’t covered in the 4,000,034 other comic related podcasts out there. I think I’m almost there, though. Expect news on that over the summer as well.
So, it’s been about two weeks since Free Comic Book Day. Of course, I read all the goodies I picked up quite some time ago, but it’s taken me some time to actually get around to writing anything up. The biggest surprise for me was Atomic Robo. I had never read the series before and was pleasantly surprised when I did. The issue was a good choice as a Free Comic Book Day offering. It gave basic concepts and themes with out going overboard. The art style was really cool and the writing was crisp. If you’ve never tried the book, do so. I’d give it a very strong recommendation. I’d say it was one of my favorite offerings from the day.
Although Atomic Robo was a big favorite, there were plenty of other books worthy of note. The Savage Dragon issue was top-notch. I’m kind of biased there though, since that has long been one of my favorite series. I will say that I’m not sure if that issue would bring in many new readers since it wasn’t your typical introduction to a character. Time will tell I suppose. Ape Entertainment had an awesome little sampler. I really enjoy the White Picket Fences stuff. I’m not sure I’ll follow anything else from that issue, though. The nice thing about was that you could try a wide variety of their offerings and depending on your tastes, you should be able to find something in there that you like. My kids got the Johnny DC stuff, which is pretty impressive. The down side of that stuff is that those comics need to be out where that readership is. A point of purchase display in a grocery store would be great. Maybe in an arcade. I don’t know, but I think the only kids getting regularly exposed to that stuff are children of comic fans.
I guess that’s it from me. See you with the next comic update on Tuesday.

Good bye print, hello internet. It seems that more and more, print is becoming antiquated. Really, I suppose she could have just called information, but where’s the visual fun in that.
Junk drawer may need an explanation. I don’t know if that’s a common thing. As a kid and now an adult, there has always been a drawer in the kitchen with odds and ends. Every thing from pens and pencils to tape to tools. Useful stuff that is frequently used and needs to be accesible. And other bits of random junk. I hope I’m not alone in this practice. That would be awkward.
So I had intended to post a review of all the comics given out on Free Comic Book Day. Sadly, May is a crazy busy month for us here and I haven’t had time to write the review. Hopefully, I’ll have it up by tomorrow. In the mean time, enjoy this lovely May day.

I hate feeling frantic. I hate it almost as much as I hate talking on the phone. This page pretty much epitomizes “extremely irritating moment” for me. And the frustration of trying to get ahold of somebody when you really need to, and not being able to? In this day and age, when people carry their phones wherever they go, there’s not a whole lot of tolerance for that is there? And yes, I’m the one people can’t get on the phone. I have a cell phone. It’s always on, and I carry it with me. I don’t know why though, since I frequently don’t answer it. Sometimes I just can’t hear the ring, but there have been times when I just don’t want to talk. Drives people nuts. And I am sorry for that. Just not so sorry I’m going to start answering when the phone rings. Sometimes you just need to be unreachable.
Does anyone really believe Mike should have a large hammer in his possesion? Or leading anything? At least we know the Doctor feels wanted. It just doesn’t seem like the kind of situation most would find comforting. The question is, why are those guns pointed at them? I believe we’ll find out soon.
I can’t go without mentioning the significance of this date. May 5th. Not only is it Cinco de Mayo, the ultimate “underdog triumphant” holiday, but it’s also the day that saw the first U.S. astronaut in space.
