This helmut appears to be more trouble than it’s worth. Mike seems to be stuck with it for now, though. At least he got a work out.
I guess it must be hard to see in that helmut. I’m sure Mike will figure it out. So If you’re just joining us, Mike and his son, Lucas, set off on a trip to the local comic shop only to run into some very strange beings. First, they battled a tentacled toilet monster. Then there was fellow customer, Phil, who happened to be a floating eyeball wearing a hat. At first the owner, Pat, tried to blow everything off. Eventually he realized he needed to explain, but that explanation was almost as strange as everything else that had led up to the explanation. Pat described the store as the gateway or center of an infinite multiverse and claimed to be a god. Before anything else could happen, Mike and Lucas tried to leave, only to walk out of the story into another reality, became seperated, with Lucas now in the other reality with a kid from the store and a large bald man.
So now you’re pretty much caught up.
Dr. Franken and Mike are getting ready to go find the kid and Lucas. An important thing to remember is that we still don’t know what was going on between the dr. and the large bald man. What ever it was, you can bet that’s part of the doctor’s motivation for going along with Mike. Pat knows what’s going on, but he’s not telling.
Pat’s handing out some very familiar equipment. Only time will tell if it’s the real deal, though. Also, you may want to check out the previous page for the doctor’s name. It may be important.
This way to the Multiverse! Multipe realities converging on one spot. Over the coming months identities will be revealed, character relationships will change, some will disappear, new ones will arrive, and hopefully along the way there will be laughs and surprises. Enjoy.
Panic. If you’re a parent, you know the feeling. Well, everybody knows the feeling. There are different degrees of it, like when you’ve realized you’re in the middle of a strange city and you’ve just locked your keys in the car while it’s running. Oh, you’ve never done that. How about the moment you realized you’d been driving for an hour or two in exactly the wrong direction? You’re right, that’s not panic. Not really, but I think there’s a brief moment of it. Anyway, as a parent there’s that moment when your little one has disappeared from site and you don’t know where they’ve disappeared. Sitting at a playground you’re watching your kid play on one of those crazy wood structures that seem to wrap the whole way around the planet, you space out or get involved in a conversation with someone. When you look back to check on the speedy little angel, he or she is completely out of sight. As you look, you’re calm at first knowing that he’s just ducked behind something so you begin scanning. As time ticks by and you don’t see her, that’s when the panic starts to set in. All kids of terrible thoughts start running through your head, including the one about the creepy guy with the white van and the candy. And just when you’re ready to call in the National Guard, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines, U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines, you spot him under a tree in the corner of the playground, crouched over what appears to be a dead rat, preparing to pick it up. That’s the panic Mike is going through right now. We just haven’t gotten to the dead rat part. Yet.
Aaaaannnd we switch away from Lucas, the as-yet-unnamed-kid, and the big bald guy. Don’t worry though, they’ll be okay while we check in on Mike and his wife. If you don’t recall, Mike dropped his phone when he saw the big bald guy. So it’s currently sitting on a sidewalk in a different reality. He probably won’t get that back, right? To make matters worse, he and his wife got cut off in mid conversation, so she’s flipping out. He’s got too much on his mind right now to have even thought about the fact that he doesn’t have his phone and was in the middle of a conversation when he lost it.
What can I say? Some under cover cop types, with S.W.A.T. support and snipers show up. There has to be an explanation for this, doesn’t there? Anyone?
So, the big guy can take a hit from a car without flinching. That’s unusual. We’ll have to keep an eye on him. Fortunately, he was willing to take that hit for Lucas. Things are progressing much too fast for our characters to react right now, but give it time.
